Seventh for Kopecky on the final stage in Belgium

22 June 2025

Five days of fantastic racing at the Baloise Belgium Tour wrapped in Brussels today with the traditional punchy final stage around the capital and 22-year-old Matyas Kopecky seventh for Team Novo Nordisk.

Never out of the top 20 aside from the stage three individual time trial, the highlight of the race for Kopecky and TNN was sixth in the sprint on the second stage as the young Czech yet again reminded everyone just what’s possible with diabetes.

“They told me that’s our best ever appearance here at the Belgium Tour and that makes me really proud,” said Kopecky. “As a team we’ve had a great week of racing and on a personal level some good results and another step in the right direction.”

“The only disappointment is probably the first stage, because if we had done better with that result then maybe I would have finished better than third in the youth classification, but that’s only a maybe. It’s still been an excellent week, good preparation for the Czech Nationals and as always we’ve inspired a lot of people out there.”
